Sandra Friend became our friend on the trail as her words lead us through some of the most interesting flora and fauna. Mileage plotted based on landmarks such as "concession stand" and "interesting sink hole to the left of trail" made for a whole new way of navigating. Hints on trail peculiarities and where to find places that hikers are welcome made her guidence soothing as we ventured into the real Florida. I often would read her prose outloud on the trail. This prompted many question statements from Kyle.
